ECC luminaries were asked the following questions:
1) What are your future plans in ECC?
2) What's your strategy to defeat your opponent?
3) What do you plan on accomplish at Chess-Fest 2000?
4) How do you feel about the other members of the ECC?
5)Are Tenacious Tom and President Nick really enemies?
"Tenacious" Tom Rose
1) "Well, Ron, as of right now I am still in retirement. However, on March 25th, Ace Checkmate and I will be teaming up to take on the Bone and Balls connection. After that I will reign over the ECC just as I did before I retired."
2) "I really don't have a set strategy to dismantle my opponent. I feed off the game."
3) "Ace and I will defeat the Bone and Balls connection. The rest, well you'll have to show up to find out...."
4) "Although the rest of the ECC is inferior to myself, I do have respect for them even though they don't deserve it."
5) "Yes, We are really are. From the first day I entered the ECC he has had something against me and I haven't done anything to him. He claims he is neutral but it's clear him and Lightning have something going. I personally feel that he thinks superstardom has overshadowed him and the ECC, and he's right, but where would it be without me?"
Zach "Chezz" Wood
1) "Well, I plan on taking the championship belt from Lightning Larry just as I did to Tenacious Thom with the hardcore title. My win over Thom made him so threatened by my chess skills he retired. Larry will eventually feel the same wrath that Thom did. [Tom’s response: “I retired because I had dominated the ECC long enough. The only reason I lost to Zach "Chezz" is because of Nick partially. He is the master of using a leaf blower against his opponents."]
2) "My strategy for beating Mikey is to be deceptive and take his king when he least expects it.” (Note: in hardcore you win by taking your opponent’s king.)
3) "Retaining my hardcore title and proving to everyone that I am the greatest hardcore champ of all time."
4) "They are children in a man's world. As I always say to all the ECC members, "If you can't run with the big dogs, run with the little ones."
5)"NO."
Lance the Lacerator
1) "First of all, I will dethrone the title-holders and claim all three titles. With the help of my extensive staff, Manager/ECC Prospect Ron "The Repoman" Taylor, Public Relations Manager PAY (Philip Anthony York), Public Relations Assistant Manager James "The Judicator" Gandee, and body guards Nick Martin and Matt McCarn, this task will not be a problem for the Lacerator."
2)"I use a hybrid of the wedge formation and move my queen out early, contradicting popular chess philosophy."
3) "Within the first ten minutes, I will claim my three titles and spend the rest of the time lacerating my chess arch rival, Cannibal Chris."
4)"I feel nothing but pity for my other opponents, one-day however they may become competition, but until then they can only dream of facing the Lacerator and his tag-team partner The Big Green Machine who's chess game forces me to think."
5) "No I do not because I feel that Tenacious is just jealous because he isn't the chess superstar he once was. So he takes his anger out on people that are above 'gutter-trash' because everything gets handed to Tom on a silver platter."
"StoneBone" Mike Hauser
1) "First and foremost on the agenda, is to dethrone Zach "Chezz" Wood of the C.T.W. (Challenge the World) Hardcore title. Second, I will unmercifully checkmate the living crud out of "Tenacious" Tom Rose & Ace Checkmate, and become the first co-holder of the ECC tag-team championship. Last and not least, and most importantly, I'm going to beat "Tenacious" Tom and Larry in a triple-threat match to become the first 7-time ECC champ."
2) "First I start out moving my pawn in a flock position, and from there on out I will divide and conquer."
3) "See question #1. Also, though I am going to beat Zach "Chezz" Wood in a one-arm match where the loser has to put sand down their pants. Also, I plan to be the only person to hold all three titles at Chess-Fest 2000."
4) "About as much as I think of you gutter-trash."
5) "Beyond a shadow of a doubt, yes. By the way, you can bet your last dime that the Big Mikekowski will penetrate his way to the top of the ECC rankings, and that's the bottom line because 'StoneBone' said so!"
